General Municipal Election — voters in City Council Districts 2 and 4 elect their City Council representatives.

Nomination Period

Jul 13 – Aug 7, 2026

Candidate filing period; closes 5:00 p.m. on Aug 7 (may extend five days if an eligible incumbent does not file). Elections Code §§ 10407, 10225.

Vote-center and drop-box locations and hours will be posted by San Mateo County Elections as they are confirmed.

  1. Check Your Registration

    Make sure you're registered to vote in San Mateo County and that your address is current.

  2. Vote by Mail

    All registered voters in San Mateo County automatically receive a ballot by mail. Fill it out, sign the envelope, and return it by mail (postmarked by Election Day) or drop it off at any ballot drop box.

  3. Vote in Person

    Vote centers will be open in the days leading up to Election Day and on Election Day. You can vote at any vote center in San Mateo County.
